SUNDANCE is Ryanne’s first dive into true abstraction during her university studies and it is a delight to visually examine the details when seeing this painting in person. Warm and comforting, the rounded and curved shapes and lines create a soft, body-like form, and the small details hiding within each inch of the piece may surprise and delight the viewer, just as it did for Ryanne.

A bold example of Ryanne’s colour palette forming in her early years, SUNDANCE is a watercolour abstract-expressionist painting mounted in a hand-painted white frame. Created during one of the hardest times in Ryanne’s life, Ryanne was unsure if the pressure & pain from personal life would interfere negatively with her art. But thankfully, some of the most beautiful and pivotal art Ryanne has created in her life has come from when she has been placed under severe pressure, showing her that her circumstances do not matter; all that matters for Ryanne’s inner peace is to paint & create.

SUNDANCE, a blast of darkness and light fighting one another for space in the frame, is adjacent to life, and human nature at its core. For we cannot have any appreciation for the light if it were not for darkness.
