TETHER, 2020

TETHER was a visual exploration of my subconscious mind using objects like flowers as symbols across multiple dreams as a tether to connect dreams together. I was having dreams with multiple bouquets of flowers in vases, and through exploring the elements I can remember in a dream, sometimes it leads me to the clues that I’ve forgotten.

The desire to learn more about my dreams comes from a childhood of repressing my trauma to be a brave role model to my younger siblings for many years. My dreams often take place when I am younger and I have less control, they often take place in a place I can’t escape, there are always the same people, and at least one object or location always ends up being the same, for familiarity. I am interested in how these pieces intertwine and what my dreams are trying to tell me.
